This is an EXTREMELY EARLY one-serial number is 54,xxx (See pics for full #) and this is the earliest VI I've ever seen. Indeed, I would have thought this horn was an SBA from the serial number, but it is clearly marked MARK VI on the body and has the VI key cluster, though other vestiges of the SBA keywork remain. Sonically, it combines the best of both worlds. The pure, complex, reedy tone of the SBAs with a little bit of the up-frontedness and edge that made the Mark VI famous. This one is in great shape. Obviously, it has been relacquered, but the color is perfect and it would look terrific if re-engraved. Pads and action are very good, and this horn plays GREAT as is.
