NEVER say NEVER. Because the time has come to sell it. I recently bought an early 60’S Stop Tail 335 and need to recoup. I have owned this 64 Strat for a long time, because it does everything a good Strat should. I won’t go into a fantasy world about bell tones etc…You already know what a good Strat sounds like. Everybody tells you their vintage Strat is the best one in the world. I won’t do that. I will honestly describe it. So you can decide if this guitar is right for you.    The pickups are the last of the old school hand wound pickups, very well balanced in relation to each other( after 64 they were machine wound). Each one reads very evenly in the 6.5 K range, match perfectly, and have very strong magnets. They are original wind grey bottoms dated November 64, two of them in pencil and one in yellow ink. Setting the VOL At  around  8 on this guitar,  will give you all the smooth warm early 60’S tone you want. Crank it up to 10  and  they become very hot, Tele like.    The clay dot neck on this guitar is chunky like a 63 neck in feel and size. It is exceptionally clean, original finish. No finish missing . Original frets are real nice and level and still have PLENTY OF LIFE left. Nut is original. Double line Klusons are clean too. There has never been any other tuners on it, no extra screw holes. DECAL is perfect nothing scratched off or missing. A beautiful neck DATED : 2 AUG 64    Body has some playing wear as seen in photos. It is original finish.No touch ups, No routes, cracks,Or extra screw holes .It is still very presentable and seasoned  with just the right amount of playing wear.    Electronics are original and all intact. Three way switch .Pots smooth ,quiet and function 100 %. DATED: 137 64 28    Tremolo  original, works 100%. PAT PEND saddles, adjust perfectly,nothing rusted ceased or broken in the block. All springs are included,back cover, trem arm as well. Seldom seen and not usually included ash tray too !!    64 pick guard is very beautiful without any cracks or breaks, fits well. Pick ups adjust very easily.Covers are clean and nice too. VOL & TONE knobs and switch tip are also pretty. The back cover for the trem spring cavity is not broken or cracked. Along with having the original ash tray, how often do you see  a nice trem cover included too ?     No logo 64 case has moderate wear accordingly one corner more so.It is solid and holds the guitar well.The latches flip up and function as they should.     Vintage Strats come and go as you know. But 75% of them are either altered, pieced out, Pieced together or a combination of issues. A lot of them don’t even play well any more. This guitar has some honest to goodness tone enhancing playing wear.But make no mistake, this guitar is not all worn out. It is original, regularly maintained, played sparingly. Everthing works as it should. Intonation is good.There is plenty of original fret life left. You will receive a guitar set up and ready to play ! Still keeping it’s investment potential, it is high quality original instrument. Museum pieces are expensive.
