Description
1907 Martin 0-42 Vintage Acoustic Guitar       Make a wise financial investment in this losing investment economy!  These high-end vintage Martins just continue to increase in value--they cannot be replaced!   This 1907 0-42, Serial #104xx, all original Martin guitar in excellent condition, and is 1 of 12 crafted that year.  This incredible museum-grade gem is in excellent condition and near fully original.  "42" style fingerboard snowflake inlays and original inlaid tuners.  There does not appear to be any repair work done to this beautiful instrument -- no evidence of a neck reset, yet the action is quite low. There are a number of other details that will thrill any appreciator of fine guitars, such as the perfectly shaped ivory heel cap; the gorgeous long and delicately carved volute (that is the visible part of the neck/peghead joint that was so difficult to do--the factory gave it up the very next year); the exquisite workmanship of every detail, etc.    CONDITION AND ORIGINALITY This guitar is structurally and cosmetically sound.  All is original on it except the bridge pins (vintage replacements).  The finish appears to be original as best I can tell, though not without typical marks and aging texture indicating it has been around for many years.  Beautiful, straight grained Brazilian rosewood sides & back, cedar neck & top, Ivory bound body & fingerboard, German silver tuners with the rare etched (flowered vine) pearl buttons, 19 frets total, 5 frets inlayed-5,7,9,12,15, Ivory bridge.  The guitar has 2 hairline cracks in base of rosewood back about 4-5" long, both of which have been professionally re-glued and sealed.  They are nearly unnoticeable.  The action is excellent.  All inside bracing, bridgeplate, etc. are original and tight.  This guitar was owned by the previous owner over 50 years.  I am told it was played fairly frequently during most of those years--only for personal enjoyment, and was meticulously cared for as well, had no repairs during that time. A look inside with mirror and flashlight verifies no cracks or damage covered up whatsoever.  The frets look original, but it’s always possible they were replaced over the years.  They are level, in good shape, and play well up the neck.  The fretboard is in good shape.  The guitar comes with a perfect fitting, mid 1900s hard shell plush protective case, in excellent condition.  All latches and hinges work well.   Tonal characteristics The voice is everything you could want from an instrument like this.... it’s open, clear, woody, rich, balanced—with fullness and timbre to match.  If you're looking for a vintage, collector/player instrument in original, excellent condition, solid structurally and cosmetically, and has been not only played but well maintained over the years…this 0-42 should be considered.  Check out the sound video clip below.  This rare 0-42 will make some new owner very pleased, and will be a great addition to any Collection.     Happy bidding!   ===============================================================    Video File available by clicking on this link:    Martin 0-42 Video Clip Original Sample   Newly added:   Martin 0-42 Video Clip High Resolution   Martin 0-42 Video Clip 3 Hi-Res       --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Sales are final, so please be sure and contact me if you have any further questions.  I will be glad to call serious bidders upon receipt of a phone number for further discussion on tone, playability, condition, etc.  I work hard to provide an accurate description and a positive transaction, as my feedback record will indicate.  International bidders, please email me for shipping estimate.   Pay by Bank check, Bank Wire, or contact me about Paypal and other payment options.  Of course, cash works if you live in the RI area.   Good luck!   Thanks for looking,  Ken
